EXPERIENCE:
Ms. Karpowicz concentrates her practice in commercial matters, nearly all of which is devoted to litigation.  Her practice is focused on creditor’s rights, collection, and judgment enforcement.  Ms. Karpowicz understands the legal needs of businesses, such as lenders, lessors, and other financial institutions.  Much of her practice involves subjects such as contract disputes, commercial code litigation (UCC), repossessions, fraud allegations,and real estate litigation.  She also handles disputes regarding condominium associations and mortgage and foreclosure litigation, in particular defending against actions for Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) violations, and Illinois Consumer Fraud and Business Practices Act, among others.

Ms. Karpowicz is experienced in contested motion practice, depositions, and trial work. She represents clients in all aspects of proceedings for the collection of unpaid loans, unsecured debts, professional fees, leases, and debts for goods sold and delivered, including the assertion and protection of secured collateral such as mortgages and other liens.  In bankruptcy proceedings, Ms. Karpowicz monitors cases, files proof of claims, contests automatic stays and challenges the discharge of the debtor's obligations, as necessary.  She successfully enforced her clients' judgments and handled post-judgment proceedings involving garnishments, levies and liens.
